This study aimed to identify the levels of academic burnout dimensions and analyze their relationship with academic well-being among engineering students. A quantitative, descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 352 participants selected through non-probability convenience sampling. The Maslach Burnout Inventory-General Survey for Students and the Utrecht Work Engagement Scale-Student were administered; data were examined using descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations, and ANOVA. Mean scores were 3.19 for exhaustion, 1.69 for cynicism, and 4.08 for academic efficacy. Exhaustion and cynicism were negatively associated with vigor, dedication, and absorption, whereas academic efficacy correlated positively with all three well-being dimensions. No significant differences were observed by semester. The cross-sectional design and convenience sampling limit causal inference and generalizability. The study provides context-specific evidence from a university on Mexico's northern border and supports continuous preventive action. Strengthening academic and personal resources may help contain exhaustion without weakening students' engagement with their studies.
