Abstract

Transcranial Direct Current Electrical Stimulation (tdcs) is a hopeful tool for psychiatrists and neurologists in
their research for the effective treatment of neuropsychiatric disorders. Methods of electrical stimulation are not
something of this century. From the time of ancient civilizations to the present day they have been studied. The
therapy aims to directly modulate the potentials of neuronal rest and thus alter the state of excitability, that is, the
probability that the afferent activity of a specific amplitude will result in the generation of an action potential.
In psychiatry, drug treatment remains the first option to date. tdcs has recently been introduced as an adjuvant
treatment, especially for patients in refractory periods or with resistance to treatment. Early applications of tdcs
focused on depression, then spread to anxiety, schizophrenia, addictions, and obsessive-compulsive disorder (ocd).
